Opal Exteriors Warranty

We stand behind the work we install.

If Opal installed it, it carries a labor warranty. Here is what is covered, for how long, and exactly how to request service on your windows, doors, siding, decking, and exterior details.

Windows and doors carry a lifetime craftsmanship guarantee. Siding, decking, gutters, and trim carry a five-year craftsmanship guarantee.

Service request

The one place to request warranty service

Our office team manages every warranty request through a single page. Submit your concern with as much detail and as many photos as you can, and the team reviews it directly. This is for warranty service on work Opal installed. It is not for new projects or general repairs.

Coverage basics

Product warranty vs. installation workmanship

Two different things are protected in two different ways. Knowing which one applies gets your concern to the right place faster.

Opal handles

Installation workmanship

  • How the product was fitted, sealed, and finished
  • Leaks, alignment, or operation issues caused by installation
  • Craftsmanship on siding, decking, gutters, trim, and details
  • Caulking failure directly caused by installation
Manufacturer handles

Product defects

  • Defects in the window, door, or material itself
  • Finish or material failures unrelated to installation
  • Anything covered by the product manufacturer warranty
  • Opal can help you facilitate a product concern

Maintenance coverage

Caulking coverage

Caulking helps protect your home from air and water intrusion, but it is a maintenance item, not a permanent solution. Whether a caulking issue is covered is determined after inspection.

May be covered

  • Caulking failure directly caused by improper installation or application
  • Defects clearly linked to workmanship, as determined by inspection

Determined by inspection

  • Opal reserves the right to inspect and determine the cause
  • Installation-related failures may be covered under workmanship
  • Wear, aging, or environmental exposure is not covered

Typically not covered

  • Cracking, shrinking, or deterioration due to age
  • Separation from normal expansion and contraction
  • Maintenance-related re-caulking over time
Most exterior caulking lasts roughly 5 to 10 years depending on material and conditions, and even high-performance sealants need periodic inspection. On windows and doors, caulking-related concerns are covered up to 10 years. If a caulking issue falls outside workmanship coverage, it can be handled as a maintenance service, and a $150 to $250 diagnostic fee may apply.

Ownership

1xOne transfer to the next homeowner

Transfer policy

  • The guarantee applies to the original homeowner
  • It may be transferred one time to the next homeowner after the sale of the property
  • Coverage remains in effect for the original terms after transfer
  • Work completed by other contractors may void coverage
  • Replacement materials may vary slightly in color or style if the originals are no longer available
