Meeting the Most Important Consideration When Dealing With Siding Contractors

The Story:

Opal Exteriors is so pleased to have Todd and Linda return to Opal for additional home improvements! Previously, Opal had installed new windows and siding sections that the couple were completely satisfied with. Todd contacted Opal once again because he discovered hail damage on his 1968 home in DuPage county while cleaning the original aluminum siding from a recent summer storm. Although there was another contractor repairing other homes on their street that were also damaged from the storm, Todd knew that Opal would give them exactly what they wanted for the absolute best price — plus Opal Exteriors is a Hardie Certified Installer.

Certain that they did not want vinyl siding, the couple explained that they were interested in a larger exposure James Hardie siding in a lighter color, which was a change from the original 4” double lap. One of the benefits to James Hardie products is the freedom to choose basically any color of their liking, so Jason, the Opal representative, discussed the difference between the COLORPLUS technology offered and doing a custom color.

For Todd and Linda, the most important consideration when dealing with contractors was communication and the utmost commitment to a defined schedule. As a family with young children, they needed the crew to be there when they said they were going to be there. A second priority for them was cleanliness and organization. Todd had experienced issues with a different contractor regarding communication and the crew’s untidiness, and he was impressed that Opal takes pride in respecting their clients’ time and property. A final priority of Todd and Linda’s was that they get ultimate value for their investment into their home. Todd explained that Opal’s stellar reputation made them an easy choice. Doing their due diligence, they did look at one other contractor prior to contacting Opal, but while the pricing was competitive, Todd did not appreciate the high-pressure sales tactic that only focused on the salesperson closing the deal. The other company was only focused on making a sale, rather than on properly addressing Todd and Linda’s needs and concerns.

The Solution:

Opal removed the old original siding and installed James Hardie siding in vertical panels with horizontal lap patterns. Todd and Linda picked the siding and trim to be in a cobblestone color with PVC crown headers and columns.

Todd expressed that they felt zero pressure when making their selections. Jason was very informative, but not pushy, and he was available when needed, making it easy for Todd and Linda to get their questions answered promptly. The sales process overall was rated as 100% honest. They were happy to report that the written estimate was very detailed and transparent with zero hidden charges.

They explained that the crew’s performance really stood out. The excellent communication established and maintained throughout the job was greatly appreciated, especially since that was a major priority for Todd and Linda. They reported that Opal’s crew demonstrated genuine pride in their work, and they did a great job at keeping the property clean and organized, even in tough elements. Overall, they felt that the installation couldn’t have gone any better.

Despite having one hiccup occur regarding the shape of the garage opening, Todd was confident that the issue would be cleared up without complications because of Opal’s reputation. With his confidence correctly placed, it took one easy phone call to make an adjustment on the paperwork. No delays or fuss!

Todd and Linda have already recommended Opal Exteriors to their neighbors, friends, and family! They explained that Opal has “top notch communication, a non-pushy sales approach, and most importantly, quality product and craftsmanship.” Opal is proud to have worked with Todd and Linda for a second time!
