Naperville Home's Exterior Makeover - How Education Erases Fears and Concerns

The Story

Bill and Nancy B. were looking to upgrade the exterior of their home. The siding on the house was 32 years old and the wood around the front door was rotting away. They had recently had work done on their chimney and were ready to update their siding, doors, gutters, and shutters.

In their search for contractors, they had reached out to two other contractors prior to contacting Opal Exteriors,¬†one never responded to their inquiry, and the other failed to provide a quote in a timely manner. Overall, they were frustrated with the contractors’ responsiveness and were really looking for a company with a good reputation, quality product, and timely correspondence.

It was also important to the Bill and Nancy that they find an honest local contractor who would take the time to genuinely educate them on what needed to be completed and how it would be done in order to bring their vision to reality. They cared deeply about their home’s appearance and sought a contractor who provided quality work and products that would outlast the time they planned to spend in their home. What they didn’t want was to be “sold” on any specific product that was strictly the most profitable for the contractor. Additionally, it was essential that the company they selected took the extra effort to protect their extensive landscaping that they worked hard on and were extremely proud of.

Bill and Nancy had seen Opal Exteriors’ work for some time, and after seeing a TV commercial, they decided to contact Opal. They met with Josh for an initial consultation. Josh took the time necessary to gain a full understanding of what the Bill and Nancy were looking to achieve for their home. They visited with Josh three times where he walked the property with them to present options, identify cost differentials, and make recommendations. He was able to provide a preview of how their home would look with the options they discussed which ultimately helped them select the perfect products for their needs. Josh presented the costs in detail for them and was methodical in presenting cost options. In addition, when Bill and Nancy wished to see completed work for previous customers, Josh provided a listing of homes with varying products and colors. He took them on a tour of the houses where they were able to speak with previous Opal customers.

Confident in Opal’s ability to meet their wishes, they selected Gray Slate James Hardie Siding with artic white CedarMill corners for their home. They wanted the siding to surpass the next 15-20 years that they planned to live there and felt that James Hardie siding was a better choice than vinyl siding. They also chose to install new gutters, 12 pairs of gray shutters, and a new Provia fiberglass entry door with two Snowmist white sidelights.

As communication was a major concern, Opal’s policy in keeping customers well-informed and involved brought peace of mind to Bill and Nancy. Prior to the start of a job, Opal reviews any areas of concern with clients. Bill and Nancy emphasized the importance of the crew working carefully around their landscaping. They took great pride in their yard, and Opal’s crew made sure to work carefully around it.

Overall, Bill and Nancy were pleased with the installation process. They appreciated how easy Opal was to contact during the job, and how responsive Opal was throughout the entire process.
