Opal did a complete exterior home renovation in La Grange Illinois. This project involved total replacement of siding, 3 windows, 2 new doors, roofing, and exterior details such as gutters and trim.
New Siding Installation
Hooray for Night Gray! A dark and sophisticated fiber cement siding color by James Hardie® building products. Night Gray is part of the ColorPlus® technology line which is a special baked-on color finish that won’t fade, crack, or peel. It’s designed to be very low maintenance and you’ll never need repainting again!
Night Gray revitalized and modernized this home’s exterior. Before the siding replacement, this house had old wood, aluminum, and vinyl siding. This was removed down to the substrate. Next, Opal siding contractors installed a HardieWrap weather barrier. On top of the HardieWrap the beautiful new James Hardie siding was installed. Cedar Mill plank and staggered edge shingle style siding was used, all in the Night Gray color. The trim installation was James Hardie fiber cement material in the Arctic White color with a smooth texture.
Front Door and 3 Windows Replaced
The home got an upgrade with a new ProVia Legacy door and ProVia deluxe storm door. The garage door was also replaced. 3 windows on the house were replaced. Opal’s window replacement team installed new Alside Mezzo premium vinyl windows. The new door and windows are Energy Star rated. Special procedures were used in this window replacement because the trim tested positive for lead. Opal Enterprises is a certified Lead Safe contractor with crews specially trained in the safe removal and disposal of materials containing lead based paint.
Complete Roof Replacement
Opal roofers removed and replaced the old roofing system, and old shingles were recycled. Ice and water shield was installed on home’s eaves & rake edges of the roof, and 15 lb. felt paper was used over entire deck. Architectural roofing shingles by GAF were installed in the Williamsburg Slate color, which pairs nicely with James Hardie Night Gray. The flat part of the roof got Mule-Hide Self-Adhering Modified Bitumen. This is a special membrane by GAF designed for flat roofs.
Also installed were new soffit, fascia, gable vents, and gutters. The columns and front porch were refreshed. We installed a HB&G Permacast square column. The old metal railings were removed and replaced with HB&G Permarail with turned balusters, and painted white. This is now a renovated and revitalized home in La Grange, IL outfitted with durable high quality building materials.
